Ke Ga Lighthouse is located in Tan Thanh Commune, Ham Thuan Nam District, Binh Thuan Province. The lighthouse used for ships traveling in the area is recognized by the Vietnamese record as the tallest and oldest lighthouse in Vietnam.
 
The reason for the name Ke Ga (or Khe Ga) is because the cape has the shape of a chicken's head. Another theory is that this is the part of land separated from Cam Ke mountain that in Dai Nam Nhat Thong Chi book called Ke Du ("Chicken Island"), because there are wild chickens with colorful feathers living next to the stream. out to sea. It seems that this is the more correct hypothesis for the origin of the name Khe Ga.
 
Currently, Khe Ga island and the lighthouse have become an attractive tourist destination for tourists visiting Binh Thuan province in general and Phan Thiet tourists in particular. In addition, Ke Ga lighthouse is also a unique architectural relic. According to the maritime history in this area, Cape Khe Ga is located in an extremely dangerous position of the sea from Phan Rang to Vung Tau.
 
 
Since centuries ago, there have been many merchant ships passing and sinking due to the unknown location. To meet the transport needs of the French army as well as foreign merchant ships, the French researched and built Ke Ga lighthouse. During construction, many people died in accidents. Currently, there is still a cemetery where the old workers rest.
 
 
 
The lighthouse was built at the end of 1897 and put into operation in 1900. The lighthouse is 35m high, the entire height from the top to the sea level is 65m, made entirely of stone.
 
 
A total of 183 steel spiral stairs lead to the top of the lighthouse and dozens of steps leading to the top of the light. Around the foot of the lighthouse, there are two rows of porcelain flowers along the path planted by the French since the end of the last century, still intact, radiating shade all year round. All materials for building the lighthouse were brought from France, including the lamp on the top and the generator.
 
It has been 122 years, through the smoke and fire of war, facing many storms, the ancient lighthouse still stands tall on the sea, the eye of the sea that guides many ships to safely cross the sea, like a fire. long-standing belief of Vietnamese fishermen.
